Nightlife in Thong Lor

Octave Rooftop Lounge is the only sky high bar in Thong Lor, while most of those would be concentrated around Silom and Bangkok Riverside. Located on top of the Marriott Executive Apartments Bangkok, it offers a spectacular 360 degree view from the 45th floor also Showcasing Asian inspired small bite menu with the finest in wines & cocktails. The multilevel bar and lounge makes some outstanding cocktails, as the in-house mixologist has some signature drinks such as the Bangkok 57 (saffron infused vodka with champagne!).

Iron Fairies, is a one of a kind bar, located between Thong Lor soi 12th & soi 14th. The inspiration for Iron Fairies actually started as a fairytale book which designer and previous owner, Ashley Sutton, wrote himself, later opening a bar of the same name. Sutton’s metal fairies, little metallic figures made on the premises, bring to life his children’s books fairy tales. Dark and broody, with wrought iron staircases, makes the live jazz/blues performances one of the best in town, best enjoyed alongside a few of their signature cocktails (although they aren’t cheap)

Seen Space is the young and glamourous crowd’s favorite spot for pre-club drinks and shisha. Located in the heart of Thong Lor soi 13, Seen Space is a community mall at its best, where you can not only eat & drink but also go to the gym, get a fancy hair cut or find the perfect outfit for the night. Brew, Clouds, Fat’r Gut’z and Belon Raw Bar are the most known names, although if you grab a table in the outside courtyard you can just get multiple orders sent over from each place, but expect to wait for a table after 21:00 as it gets packed really fast.

Funky Villa used to be the only club in Thong Lor 10 years ago, it then expanded with Demo to become the biggest party complex in the area. Located on Thong Lor Soi 10, close to the vibrant nightlife scene, just look for the sign for Funky Villa that faces the road. This two-in-one club presents two very different concepts: Funky Villa generally has indie bands playing on the main stage, while the adjacent Demo is all about the heavy bass, techno, house and EDM, thus drawing in a slightly more international crowd while a third smaller bar dedicated to old school hip hop. Guests are free to move between the two to check out the different vibes. Foreigners have to pay 500 baht to get in on the weekend, but you do get two drinks tokens which amounts to 500 baht anyway. With bare brick walls covered in graffiti, exposed piping and metal shutters instead of doors, you could be forgiven for thinking Demo is an abandoned warehouse, but it is actually one of the coolest and most fashionable nightclubs in Bangkok. Demo is very popular with a young and wealthy set of Bangkokians who pull up out front in their “Super Cars” and then go crazy, partying harder than at most other clubs in the city. Don’t forget your ID, bouncers will ask for it, or you won’t get in.
